In this class you will have demonstrations by the tutor and learn the basic techniques of handbuilding sculptural pieces.  Planning and research will be discussed and surface treatments such as applying texture and colour will be explored. 

You can do a class project with the tutor demonstrating or work on an individual project with support and encouragement. 

This course will teach you:

• design processes including research, planning and problem solving

• Pinching, slabbing and coiling techniques

• Surface treatments: textures, sgrafitto, stenciling 

• Slips, engobes, oxides and glaze to finish 

• Class project ie animals or bust with demonstrations

• Individual projects encouraged
